Specifying an operator grip for a cabin or console usually comes down to two options.
Buy something off the shelf and work around whatever button layout it happens to have. Or commission a fully custom grip, and factor in tooling costs before it's even in production.
Neither is a great fit when the application sits somewhere in between.
OTTO's G3 range is built around a third option. It's a modular grip platform, a family of standard grip bodies that can be configured with different switches, faceplates and mounting options, without the tooling charges of a fully custom grip.
The G3-E control grip is a practical example of what that looks like.
It's a compact, multi-function grip built around a proportional Hall effect rocker, available with either five or seven momentary pushbuttons on the handle. A few specifics:
• Left- and right-handed versions, which often work together within the same control seat
• Runs as a standalone grip, or mounts directly onto an OTTO JHM bottom-mount joystick
• Switches sealed to IP68S, rated to 3 million cycles on the pushbuttons and 2.5 million on the rocker
• Operating range of -40°C to 85°C
• RoHS compliant
For machine builders and OEMs, that means a grip that can be specified to the job, button count, hand orientation, standalone or joystick-mounted, without committing to custom tooling for a single build, or over-specifying a generic part that doesn't quite fit.
The G3-E sits within OTTO's wider G3 Universal Grips family: seven standard grip styles built on the same modular approach, used across construction, agriculture, material handling, mining and other commercial and industrial applications. It's part of OTTO's Commercial Grips range, separate from their military and aerospace lines.
If you're specifying operator controls for mobile or heavy equipment and want a grip configured to the application rather than a compromise off the shelf, our team can help you work through the right G3 configuration.
