PH IO Couplers

IO-Link couplers

Phoenix Contact is adding new IO-Link couplers to its portfolio for contactless power and data transmission. The innovative product enables contactless data exchange between IO-Link devices in existing automation systems and offers numerous advantages for users.

The new IO-Link couplers are characterized by their high degree of flexibility and easy handling. The couplers communicate power (≤18 W) and IO-Link data (≤230.4 kbps) across an air gap of up to 7 mm without the need for contact. Power transmission is inductive. Near-field communication via air gap does not require frequency planning or wireless technology expertise.

Due to the standardized IO-Link interface, the couplers can be used with all common IO-Link Class A devices. This not only simplifies commissioning, but also the maintenance and expansion of systems. Another advantage of IO-Link couplers is their robust design, which helps to ensure reliable operation even under demanding conditions.

Where conventional connection technology reaches its limits due to space and movement restrictions, vibrations, dust and dirt, rotation, and frequent contacting, the contactless power and data couplers enable devices to be supplied with power and IO-Link data in a wear-free and maintenance-free way. This technology can therefore replace wear-prone connections and slip rings in industrial applications while minimizing costly outages. In the factory of the future, there will no longer be any physical connections in moving applications. Production downtimes due to bent or worn contacts are a thing of the past.

  • Bidirectional IO-Link transmission up to 230.4 kbps (COM3)

  • Contactless power transmission up to 18 W (24 V DC / 0.75 A)

  • Range of up to 7 mm

  • Compact M30, IP68 stainless steel housing with M12 screw connection technology

  • Contactless – no mechanical wear, no contamination, no misalignment during coupling

  • Flexible – in addition to power, IO-Link data or two digital signals can also be transmitted

  • Robust – IP68 stainless steel housing with M12 connections for use in demanding environments

  • Compact – M30 design for space-saving mounting

  • Compatible – can be used across manufacturers with all common IO-Link Class A devices

Contactless power and IO-Link transmission

The couplers transmit power (≤18 W) and IO-Link data (≤230.4 kbps) contact-free across an air gap of up to 7 mm. Power is transmitted inductively and also through non-metallic media, such as glass, plastic, and wood, which enables a wide range of applications.

Near-field communication via air gap does not require frequency planning or wireless technology expertise. The IO-Link couplers can be used across manufacturers with all common IO-Link Class A devices. Furthermore, the devices do not need to be configured and are as easy to use as a plug-in connection.

Your advantage: Replace wear-prone plug-in connections and slip rings in industrial applications and minimize costly outages.

PH IO Couplers
High degree of mounting freedom with flexible proximity options

In contrast to standard connector solutions, the IO-Link couplers can be positioned to face each other from any direction, and even rotating in relation to each other. Furthermore, the couplers do not need to be position precisely opposite each other, but can face each other with an offset, or at a tangential angle.

Your advantage: Reduced degree of precision required for the mechanical movement of two independent system parts.

Robust mechanics and precision mounting

With their IP68 housing, you can use the IO-Link couplers in demanding environments. The very robust housing with a continuous threaded tube made entirely of metal enables a variable mounting position within a mounting bracket. The cylindrical M30 design also enables flexible and easy mounting.

Your advantage: Precision mounting in confined environment
